Our Story
Flying Wings was born from a deep passion for storytelling and a desire to help others share their voices with the world. Founded by Kofi Douhadji, a two-time bestselling author, Air Force officer, and proud immigrant from Togo, Flying Wings emerged from humble beginnings and a relentless belief in the power of books to change lives.
Kofi’s journey to creating Flying Wings started with his own struggles as an independent author. After multiple traditional publishers turned down his first book, Unbroken Optimist, claiming "no one knows you," Kofi refused to let that stop him. He took control of his own destiny and launched Flying Wings in 2021. With no blueprint but a strong will, he successfully published Unbroken Optimist, which went on to sell thousands of copies worldwide. That success confirmed a truth Kofi had always believed: your path doesn’t need to make sense to others for it to lead to success.
Since then, Flying Wings has helped authors from across the U.S., Europe, and Togo publish their stories—each one a testament to resilience, creativity, and the human spirit. From Craig Williamson’s Regarding Things That Matter to Minola Jac’s Everyday Inspiration for Change, or Scott Manthorne’s The Military Effect, our catalog of books is as diverse as the voices we represent. We’ve also expanded into top-tier audiobook production, working with renowned narrators to bring books to life in new ways.
Flying Wings was built on the belief that everyone has a story worth telling, and it’s our mission to ensure that those stories are crafted, produced, and shared with excellence. We are more than a publisher—we are a community of dreamers, writers, and creators who dare to fly.
